In the mid-60s of the last century in the south of Krasnoyarsk Krai, Khakassia, close to «the 10th Khutor» bentonite deposit the Chernogorsk Bentonite Powder Plant was built to supply drilling companies of the Ministry of Geology of the USSR with bentonite powder.

• In 1994 as a result of privatization the Chernogorsk Bentonite Powder Plant was reorganized into «Khakasskiy bentonite» OJSC.
• In 1999 another company «Argillit» Ltd. was incorporated to mine and process bentonite of the same deposit, where in short time the effective technological line for soda ash activation of bentonite clay was built.
• In 2014 the merger of two companies «Argillit» Ltd. and «Khakasskiy bentonite» OJSC into «Bentonite of Khakassia» Ltd. was performed.
